Caring For Your Vegan Coconut Wax Lepe Candle - Candle Care Tips
It is so important that you are taking care of your LEPE candles to ensure the best possible experience with them. As published on the candle care guides that come with each of our products, below are some top tips to ensure you get the best and longest burn from your candles.
Never place a burning candle near clothing, books, curtains or anything flammable. Keep lit candles away from drafts and fans to ensure you minimise any risk of fire. Do not leave a burning candle unattended, and ensure it is always out of reach for children and pets.
The initial burn of your candle is the most important. The first time you burn any candle, you must let it burn for 3-4 hours. This will allow the melted wax to reach the edge of the container to prevent your candle from tunnelling, as well as maximising the fragrance throw.
Trimming the Wick
Trimming the wick to <1cm before lighting (we suggest using a wick trimmer like this or this) helps to ensure a smaller and safer flame, as well as helping the candle to produce less soot. The width of your little finger is a good guide to the correct length.
Reuse and Recycle
Discontinue burning your candle when <1cm wax is remaining in the container. Once you've burned through your candle, you can easily give the jar a second life by cleaning it out and removing any remaining wax. Look out for our next blog post for tips on cleaning out your jar.
By following the guidance published here, and on our candle care guides, you will be able to make the most of your candle. Keep an eye out for future blog posts, where we'll be showing you how to clean out your jars and creatively reuse them, as well as some behind-the-scenes action in the studio.
